good ol' micro$hit?

It looks like in one of the latest runs of microsoft? updates it phones home. Microsoft claims this is so they can shut down the machine if they need to (which is pretty damn scary, imagine one day someone pisses off old bill and then NO windows machines work any more). But it also verifys the copy of windows, and checks if it is legit. Here is the yahoo article:
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20060607/ap_on_hi_te/microsoft_monitoring_piracy;_ylt=AujEpciXDaznfIp7roidcYMjtBAF;_ylu=X3oDMTA0cDJlYmhvB HNlYwM-

it is funny, people bitch and moan about spyware, but this is much MUCH more intrusive than any spyware on the market right now. So as long as it is branded with the Micro$hit? name it is not spyware but everything else is? Does not make sence to me.

Fucked up, but by no means a surprise. Their company goal is "world domination". Not a euphamism, but real world domination.

This can also be another on of those famous security leaks. Just imagine if someone finds the shutdown code in the binary. It won't take long before someone with too much spare time finds it and turns it into a virus
