This is an awesome article contrasting an HD TV to a HDR display manufactured by Brightside Technology. It can display darks of absolute black next to the brightest white possible, resuliting in breathtaking image quality when compared to standard HD. thats pretty sick....can't wait till prices come down. IMO this is a bad time to buy a TV. Just needs a few more years to mature.

Yeah my dad was talking about this the other night. Along with
scanning technology. I dont know too much about either, but
basically hes waiting for some of this new tchnology to get out of
the infancy stages to finally throw down on a new TV.
